Quote (ke4nt1 @ Aug. 04 2004,14:15) | Backing up is easy....
First, figure out WHERE you want to keep your backup. Any hard drive will do, except for a windows NTFS drive. Floppy, HD, usb key, just about anything you can read/write to.
Next, edit the "filetool.lst" file in your /home/dsl directory. In the case of "Skins", you would add the line "/home/dsl/.xmms/Skins" You can add whatever you would like to keep, Mail, bookmarks, etc.
Then choose "System - FileRestoration - Specify Device" from your menu. Enter the location you decided on for your backups - like "hda2" for example... If you backup to floppy, you don't even need to pick a place. DSL finds it automatically.. Just make sure you keep your backup under 1.4M
And last , choose "System - File Restoration - Backup".. You will see a shell open in a window, and see your files being saved. Press "enter" when you see the prompt asking you to..
Your done..
You can restore at any time, using the similar menu item "restore"... Or, when you boot DSL, you can add the restore text to your prompt. Again , with the floppy, simply type "restore", as it finds it automagically.. If a hard drive or usb-key, enter it like "restore=hda2" for example.

ah, perhaps you should assemble a help system for the main page for simple things like this.
