Hi,
I was wondering if I can use the files from the embeded zip file to create ISO images (e.g. with mydsl packages added). Or to copy these to a USB drive (so that I don't need to extract the files from the iso image). Well, of course, I can, but the real question is : will the result be functionally the same as if I used the original ISO ?
To answer my question, I've tried to compare KNOPPIX, linux24 and minirt24.gz on the ISO and in the embedded zip file. They seem to be different.
Now, what are the differences ? (I can't really compare the contents, since I'm on a non-Linux system right now, and can't mount ext2/3 images nor can I mount cloop images).
I've also noticed (when I booted into DSL - the ISO version), that the boot scripts contain code for qemu flags, so I hoped the system should be the same.
One intersting tidbit from comparing minirt24 :
Code Sample | $ file * minirt24: Linux rev 1.0 ext2 filesystem data minirt24.emb: Linux rev 1.0 ext2 filesystem data (mounted or unclean)
|
as you may guess, minirt24.emb is the ramdisk from the embedded zip file. Is this a bug ? I.e. should the zip file be recreated with a cleanly unmounted minirt24 ?
Thanks, Andreas
