I like the idea of having embedded DSL for using under Windows, but was wondering if it was possible to have the same installation of DSL capable of booting both under Windows and also from start-up? And if so how to go about it.

This is because sometimes (eg just "borrowing" a PC) it'd be handy to boot straight into DSL, at other times (eg at work) it's more useful to be able to boot into DSL without shutting down Windows.

Starting with dsl-embedded-0.9.2.zip, yes you can boot from BIOS, or Qemu.
In fact you can boot 5 ways. There is also a script

To help supply all the tools needed for installation on usb pendrives..

Thanks. I'll take another look at the 5-way script. Though I did follow the instructions in this for setting up for QEMU, and then when I tried to boot from BIOS it didn't work (got an error complainimg about a bad boot partition, or something - I quote from memory here!
