When I booted DSL 0.8.4 on my thinkpad 600, the screens appears to be all green. At "boot", i wrote "knoppix screen=1024x768 depth=16" and told knoppix image was not found. How can I make the screen appears in 16 bit color mode in 1024x768 resolution? Thanks!

Try this:

dsl xsetup

and make selections from the menu. Do not use "knoppix" as the  cheatcode as the word has been replaced by "dsl" at the boot prompt.

Also, you could try:

dsl vga=normal xsetup

If you cannot see even the initial bootup messages.
