Well I thought if someone with DSL had my same laptop I would save them the trouble of pulling out their hair.
First you to make is easy just ctrl + alt + backspace to kill X and go straight to command line and then become root.
Second run | Code Sample | | modeprob uart401 |
Then | Code Sample | | modprobe cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=5 |
(match settings in your bois, these should be the same since they would be the same model but could differ)
These should both complete without error.
Third "startx" and look for the audio mixer in the slit. Now try testing your sound. If it works then you've done it. If you lock up then you have a confict and should try checking the irq settings in bios.
Fourth add working commands to /opt/bootlocal.sh
Then next time you reboot it should be working.
Well after many tweaks and reboots, not to mention fscks, we got it working.  Hopefully this will save you some steps whiel setting up sound on the Fujitsu C340
