Can someone tell me how to get sound working with this thing? I honestly don't know the specs of the machine. I've googled around, but all I can find are memory prices.

I do know is that it's a Pentium 133 with 64MB of RAM (16MB base I think)

And another slight issue is that the thing only supports an 800x600 resolution, and I got it changed in X, but not the console. So I can't really use the console full screen because it defaulted to (I think) 1024x768. :)

But the main issue is the sound not working. If anyone could possibly help it'd be appreciated. :)

Try finding it in lspci -v or System Stats.

About your video: yes the cd boots into a 1024x768 fb console by default... you may choose to use one of the vga= or fb codes (see wiki or press F2/F3 on start).

I got a Toshiba Satellite Pro 480CDT and had no sound initially.
I googled a lot and eventually I had enough info to get it going - but can't remember how I put it all together...

Anyway, the way it's done on mine is: added the following line to the /opt/bootlocal.sh  :

modprobe opl3sa2 io=0x370 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0

The above is all on one line
Putting it in /opt/bootlocal.sh gets it to run every time you start the laptop.
To test it you can just run it on a command line - root shell I suppose
Maybe it'll work for you too, good luck!

I still have an audio problem with my toshiba portege 3015ct. I ran that command, and I got audio ... if you hold the speaker right up to your ear. The speaker is at full volume. I hear 3.2RC3 has volume control, should I try that or is there aqn easier way (I'm on 3.2RC2)?

Volume control has been available for a long time.
Click on the dMix button in the lower right hand corner.

Volume control persistency is a new feature.
