I am able to play store-bought CDs with XMMS and the beautiful little "xmms-cdread" extension by "plinej" , but I would also like to run Audacity and Grip using the digital output of my cd drive, and there seems to be nothing comparable to xmms-cdread for these other processors. I noted a comment in a thread suggesting ALSA is the cure for all, but it looks like a complicated time-waster.
All I want is the digital output of the drive going into the various processors. As all Linux experts know, DSL will not mount file types cdfs or audiofs, so at present my only [[clumsy]] solution is to copy cd tracks with Windows or FreeDOS to some intermediate meduim, then run DSL later.
Anything really easy?
