Having got DSL up an running on my oldish VIA ITX Board, with none of the usual hassles with drivers etc - it just worked!, I am very happy with the basic functioning of DSL.
My end application is a media server with wireless networking to go in my car - plays an HD full of mp3's whilst I drive and can sync with my WiFi when at home etc.
Biggest issue with such things is boot time - I want the thing up and running and ready to play as soon as possible after getting in the car. So my question is - given that my hardware will be ultra-stable, is there anyway of speeding up the scanning of hardware devices so that boot up can be speeded up?
I have installed DSL on a CF card so far, but the system will have an HDD - I havent really worked out the best arrangement to get the most from my hardware - whether to install on the HDD or the Flash card etc.
thanks for any thoughts. Also any leads from guys who have tried this sort of thing before would be greatly appreciated (someone else must have tried this before!!)
