Ke4nt1, I told you before that I got Doom and Quake working, but I found a disk I had for Doom 1 and 2 that has .wads made by users.  There were a whole pile of them on the disk.  Well I copied a bunch over to my custom live CD and I could put them on the HDD that has Knoppix.   Do you know if Doom will detect the .wads for the other episodes and how I can load the user modded .wads?

I got 0.8.0 working too, so I need to "test" Doom and Quake extensively this weekend.  :)   I need to figure out how to use alien too, because I found my Quake 1 CD and it has .rpm and source files.  Is alien on the DSL distro?

I think you can place the .wad files in the same directory that
the shareware .wad is, then use the console in doom to load them.

Or better yet, use a shell and type
"path/to/lxdoom -file whatever.wad"
At least that's how we used to do it in "DOS"land..

ALRIGHT!!!  Let the frag-fest begin.   Even Quake 2 should rock on my PII-333 laptop.  I may have to boot into 800x600 mode to play Doom because the window is so small.

You can change the screen size with the command line as well, but without
any accelerated graphics drivers, expect to see some skips or slow screen
refreshes as you increase size, unless you've got some cojones under the hood ..

Did you have the great sound effects too?

Post up your "lsmod" output ...

Sound worked the first time, but has not since and I have given it ample opportunity.

I will see what I can do about copying lsmod.  That has been a challenge
