Does anyone know where to get ROMs that are compatibe with XMAME? I have an older version on MAME under windoze, but when I tried bringing my favourite ROMs over, I could only get one of them to run (Terra Cresta). I want my Galaga!

I think this is a general thing with the newer MAMEs, I tried the newest MAME under windoze with the same result, and the places I used to get ROMs from don't exist anymore. My current ROMs all work under the older versions, but not the newer ones!

Wouldn't xgalaga.dsl run better than an emulated version under xmame?

Actually ke4nt1, xgalaga doesn't seem to be anything remotely like the galaga I know and love. OK, maybe vaguely similar, but it's definitely not the same thing.
Thanks mpie, will check into that site. In answer to my own question, and a tip to others, most ROMs can also be found on IRC. Don't know if it's on all servers (don't know much about IRC), but at least on irc.foreverchat.net, go to #retroroms, type !LIST, and you'll come up with a list of rom servers with their own weird passphrase things you have to type in to access (eg. "!Now on to the story roms")
Then you just cd to the roms directory, ls, then "get galaga.zip" etc!
