Okay, I know I sound like I'm flogging a dead horse, but nobody's managed to answer the question properly.

I just recently did an HD install of DSL 0.6.1 (just the day before DSL 0.6.2 came out) and all was dandy, except for a resolution problem.  Now, running from the CD, I use the command vga=789, and it fixes the resolution problem just fine and dandy.  However, the HD install didn't get that same info copied over.  So I wanna know how to set that vga=789 command into the HD install.

Also, one of my last glances at the screen gave me this little tidbit of info, but I dunno where to implement it (it was on the LiveCD loadup, with proper resolution):

Use 0x21 depth 24 bit.

Anyone know where to implement the vga=789 or that bit of code which I think might be what I'm looking for ?  Thanks.

I'm no expert on this, but I guess that you still can write vga=789 at the "boot:"-prompt. If you're using lilo you could try to add vga=789 towards the beginning of lilo.conf (or replace 'vga=normal' if you have that) and then rerun lilo.

Hi, I have a similar problem and this solution might help...Unfortunately I am new to Linux and don't know where I can find this config file. (I have installed DSL on /dev/hda2 and I need to set the option vga=normal)

noNaMe use the command
locate <filename>  e.g.  locate lilo.conf

But first run an x shell and type the command >
updatedb
to setup the database. hth.

too hasty posting........ don't forget to run lilo after you make any changes.
Do a google for the man page first :)
