Quote (vlholmesjr @ May 24 2008,01:29) | Just got my bargain fanless mini-itx barebones. Too cool! Sticking with the bargain theme, I ordered a .5GB DDR DIMM from the cheapest commercial Ebay seller I could find. That seems to have been a big mistake. The DIMM arrived DOA. :-( Now the seller is dragging his feet about making it right. After I emailed a link to the page in the mini-itx store, he (BZBOYZ) wanted "COMPLETE information about the manufacturer and model number of the mother board", (His emphasis, not mine!) in order to resolve "compatibility issues". (Just how many flavors of 184 pin DDR RAM are there? ) Anyway, befor I flame him & ebay I thought I'd check and see what info I could get from the forum. Thanks in advance, vern |
Of course, it has to match your motherboard, at least in terms of size & type, but you can usually mix brands. It's probably a good idea to make sure, however, before you buy it.
Here's an ad for one that works with e-machines:
"128MB DDR333 PC2700, 184p DIMM, 2.5v, Sync, CL=2.5 - Major Brand
Your system only supports modules made with a specific type of chip. Should you find what seems to be the exact same memory elsewhere for a lower price, it is very possible that the cheaper memory will not work in your computer."
