Dumb question for you all... I dig dsl embedded -- seems like a fantastic idea. However, am I mistaken in thinking that unless I designate specific directories, my downloads and whatnot will get wiped out?

How would one go about saving stuff grabbed through apt-get? Or even the whole file structure?

Thanks a lot... I got this badboy up and running with remarkably little trouble. Triple booting coming soon to my 512meg keychain, hopefully...

From what I've seen so far, you need to open the DSL file manager, Emelfm.  Go to the ramdisk/home/dsl/ directory, and find, filetool.lst.  Edit it.  From there, simply add any directories that you want the program to save.  If you add a new folder, add the folder to the list, and it's contents will be remembered.

This is all explained in that browser window that automatically opens when DSL launches.

At any rate, I decided that it doesn't matter... I decided that whoever made the decision to not hang onto tons of stuff was right and now the .dsl approach makes sense.

... Or, least can be dealt with, thanks to that script. (This stuff should be listed somewhere, though... it took awhile to sort out, digging through all kinds of forum posts and whatnot.)

Anyway, the upshot -- if anyone wants a .dsl file for tcpdump, let me know.That process was incredibly straightforward and I think that'll meet my needs just fine. Rebuilding the iso seems kinda like overkill, but I'm still lost as to how to get it to recognize the rest of the pendrive.

Is it possible to volunteer to help with the documentation for the project? It seems like it'd be worthwhile to try and collect some of the knowledge here... especially since the end result is so darn cool.
