A quick update-

I posted in this thread earlier saying I could boot from a 128MB SanDisk cruzer mini. I bought a 256MB cruzer mini last week. I ran usb-hdinstall on it, and am able to boot from it as well. My motherboard uses the Award BIOS: it's set to boot from USB-ZIP, and the USB keyboard option is enabled.

Both network interfaces are working fine, just wi-fi is recognised as ath0 instead eth, but no problem.

And finally:

Unplug any other USB mass storage devices besides your desired boot device (extra external USB CDRW or external USB hard drive).

If your USB device light does not turn ON by the time the POST progress bar reaches 100%, your boot will fail.  Sometimes you can give it a second attempt by quickly pressing CTL-ALT-DEL and your computer will reboot and the USB device will light up sooner and then it will boot properly from the USB device.

How did you get it to work on the Dell GX260?
When I look in the BIOS Settings (Just upgraded to A08) I do not have an option for usb hdd, I have yes, no, & no boot.
I have a 512MB DiskGo 2.0 USB Key.  I can not get it too boot on any Dell.
