The first link posted above says where to save your extensions and how to get them to load automatically.
Are you having trouble with the basic file management processed in Linux? If so, please read some of this stuff: http://www.tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/html/index.html
Are you having trouble finding the downloaded extensions? When using the MyDSL interface (the desktop icon), the extensions are saved to /tmp by default. You will need to copy the ones you want to keep into a place where they can be found during the boot process (as stated at the first link). The extensions will need to be saved in the format in which they were downloaded (*.dsl, *.tar.gz, *.uci, *.unc) or they will not load when you boot.
