hi,
as you might have noticed i'm still strugeling to get squid working in DSL.
i opened a blog where i keep a personal record about the progress. mostly for recreation reasons.
so, since i'm a bit of a linuxnewbie, i'm not new to computers and how stuff works, so i'm picking-up reasenable fast.
last couple of day's i got DSL tweaked the way i like it: FAST ;) i'm also new to squid, but if you do some reading you'll get the basics pretty fast. unless you try it on DSL for the first time. even tho i been installing loads of extra's to the DSL i cant get it to work.
so i installed squid on a stripped slackware, with i installed only with ALL network tools & ALL compiling tools that came on cd. (no X, just commandline)
so my question is as follows: I installed gcc \ g++ \ make \GNU-utils\gcc-with-libs
but i still got problems running squid. it won't compile with certain options even tho the ./configure script runs oke.
if i drop the options that won't compile, it will do "make" and "make install". but than squid wont run. even with the full debuging option it doesn't tell me why it stops.
cos it does work on slack with exact same options\procedure i guess i'm still missing some essential parts.
anyane a idea what i might be missing? (i found that htcp & snmp do seam to have a problem?)
thanks in advance. kamaradski
ps: even stripped and without X slackware is so much slower then DSL...
