Hi all,

I am having problems with my mouse under X. When X starts, the cursor jumps all over the screen when I move the mouse making it totally unusable.

This happens on both version 0.7.3 and 0.8.1.1.

I have a pretty standard optical wheel mouse connected to the PS2 port on my Shuttle SK41G.

I have tried exiting from X with CTRL ALT BACKSPACE and then running xsetup.sh and choosing other options, but this still doesn't work. (I have tried both PS2 and IMPS2)

Has anybody got any ideas?

Thanks.

Easiest way to test is to swap with another mouse ..
Some just don't like the IMPS/2 on DSL ..

Another mouse will tell us if your problem is a port problem or mouse detection.
I've seen some issues with y-cables in ps2 ports ..
Other times it's ps2 mouse vs built-in trackpointer, etc ..
I have one ps2 scrollmouse that just won't GO in dsl ..
Works fine elsewhere..

Thanks,

I did some more testing, and it seems as though my KVM unit (forgot to mention that :( ) is causing the problem. Its a proper "intelligent" unit as opposed to a basic switch.

Anyway - when the mouse (both scroll-mouse and normal) is connected directly to the PC, DSL works fine.

I have never had any other problems with the KVM unit - it has been working fine with Windows and Linux on multiple machines. Anybody have any ideas why it wouldn't work with DSL ?

DSL uses the special "K-Drive" Tiny-X xwindows servers.

These servers use a mouse autodetection routine that is different from the XFree86 servers that are used by most linux distributions.

Hi, just downloaded the ISO and got the same problem, my mouse gone mad, I cannot do anything, it is not optical but is a genius wireless combo (keyboard+mouse), tried shifting ps2/imps2 thing, but still doesn't work. So... that this means that I have to buy the cheapest cablemouse I can find or renegade using DSL? If someone knows a solution please help me, i'll look over this forum.
I have read that the problem is that DSL doesn't use Xfree86, may I install it manually as a myDSL distro or something like that?
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my bad english.
