this issue depends on your hardware usually xvesa will be ok, for newer hardware. try a basic config like 800*600 or 1024*800 with 16 millions colors and 2 button mouse. else try framebuffer or lower resolutions. there's plenty of info on this matter in this forums. tens of threads. use the search field to browse them. good luck
