Okay guys,I'm sorry if this post is a DUP of one that has been posted elsewhere but, I'm a linux nooobie.. and would like some advice. I would like to setup a Linux/ samba server, and Have installed the DSL version of samba, but would also like to install swat, and Webmin, because I want to be able to control my server remotely. But when I install swat " sudo apt-get install swat " it seems to configure swat, but it give me a lot of errors, and the end messages are as follows.. errors were encountered while processing: zmailer mailx logroute samba swat E: sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) please help Also whats the deal with the code breaking.. I don't seem to have a problem with this, and a pure debian system.. But you guys are doing a Fab job, at making things.. small, and beatuiful.. thnx. Wil. Posted by cbagger01 on Feb. 05 2006,05:24
Try installing the gnu-utils extension first, aka: Upgrade to GNU utilities from the menuYou may need to re-install samba from apt-get because dpkg is unaware that you have installed the mydsl extension for samba. mydsl extension packages are not added to the debian package list. Well even after doing the suggested above, it appears to be a problem with the OLD kernel that is being used. I figured that it would be cool, to have a LIGHTWEIGHT file server that does have a desktop, and various expansion tools, servers etc, however everything is not as simple as it may seem.Or perhaps I am doing things wrong, but something simple should not consume hours or playing around to figure out it won't work..!! Great work guys on a product that is usefull..!!! Perhaps you could, in the future, have a future realease where it's a bit of a bigger CD image (150 meg or 200 meg) that could be a server realease.. kinda like this :: SLAX server .. :: < http://slax.linux-live.org/download.php > Well have a good one, I'll contnue to play with your distro .. there is promise for it..
