Hi againback from lurker limbo to ask another question where i can found font for dsl? how to install? (i need it for a gtk-based app and need to be monospaced) i found a package tar.gz with font on package list of dsl (not remember the url, but is the same page where i download all dsl package) but they don't work... i did all info said (extracted then add a xset row on .xinitrc pointing at those font) but abiword does'nt show it... and more important, app does'nt load it ![]() only monospaced one is a little... ugly >_< remind me of courier (non new) so, where i can found font for dsl? how can i install? can i install font from other linux distro (like centos or fedora) into dsl? how? ty for help ![]() Posted by lucky13 on Mar. 27 2008,14:50
Unix isn't like Windows where every application integrates with what's available on the system. The problem you're having with Abiword isn't one solved by adding an xset +fp line to xinitrc. It requires a little more work. You can find help for specific applications on their own sites. For example:< http://www.abisource.com/help....emoving > Posted by ^thehatsrule^ on Mar. 27 2008,16:04
- wrong section- you could try to copy the font you want from your other machine, assuming it is a supported type Posted by Divago on Mar. 28 2008,11:39
right i would posted it into "apps" what can i do now? delete this post and repost in right section, or just someone could move it?
Really? just copying from another machine into dsl? where? btw, i found a nice article here < http://damnsmalllinux.org/f/topic-3-26-18569-0.html > and this could give me some hope to solve this problem ![]() Posted by lucky13 on Mar. 28 2008,14:19
If you'd bothered to read the link I provided, you'd see that you don't have to go through all those machinations just to use TTFs in Abiword.

the problem is... i don't need to use it in abiword i need to use it in a gtk based app, and i found this app had a problem loading new fonts, and meanwhile abiword too had those problem so i guessed was a system's problem, not an abiword (and app) problem. Solving this issue for abiword could be not enought to solve it for my app ![]() btw, maybe it could give some hint to where is the problem; i'd check the link asap ![]() PS: just to note, i followed instruction on the link i posted... but not being able to install the package they said ;_; Posted by lucky13 on April 07 2008,12:22
You originally wrote and have since deleted *Abiword*, which is why I referred you to their site. Search the forums for how to add TTFs.

That's the price you pay for using Debian -- which is why I think DSL should drop dpkg altogether. Are you using Woody or Sarge or what? You could try compiling it yourself against the libs you already have.< http://developer.berlios.de/projects/xfstt/ > Posted by Divago on April 08 2008,10:17
i think system is using sarge... but really dunno what's the difference ![]() |
