xmms-dev 1.2.8-1?Forum: Multimedia Topic: xmms-dev 1.2.8-1? started by: chaostic Posted by chaostic on May 24 2008,22:05
I am trying to build a plug-in for the xmms (1.2.8) in DSL (3.4.x), but each plug-in needs xmms-config, which is part of the xmms-dev package. I cannot find xmms-dev-1.2.8 anywhere, so I was wondering if anyone else had it.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/dapper/xmms-dev has the original static libraries and header files needed for a new plug-in, may need conversion for DSL.Owlan Posted by chaostic on May 27 2008,23:48
Ubuntu, and Debian, only have 1.2.10, at the oldest. I have found the 1.2.7 version, but can't find the 1.2.8 version, which I would prefer for creating a dsl package. Then again, I might as well compile xmms 1.2.11 Posted by Jason W on May 28 2008,00:12
If you compile Xmms 1.2.11, I would use this patch to keep it from crashing whenever you try to enter double size mode:< http://lunar-linux.org/lunar/patches/xmms_doublesize.patch > Or the double size button will crash Xmms every time. Of course, I reckon compiling 1.2.8 from source can work to build the plugins with. I wasn't so sure that building it would also build the dev parts, but given that I wanted to play around with 1.2.8's libmpg123 plugin (Change how it outputs a string) I might as well. Thanks. Posted by Jason W on May 28 2008,00:48
Compiling apps from source should always provide the development files. Distros like Debian takes those headers and files and seperates them into a -dev package so you can have the runtime app installed and not have the space taken up by the development stuff if you do not need it.

Let us know if it works and I can look at adding the headers/libs to compile-3.3.5
