I'm not too sure, I haven't tried it yet with Win2K, but Bootmagic from PowerQuest can make a bootable floppy that can let you boot different OSes. Either that or make a Win2K boot disk.

Looks like another w2k that bit the dust because of mkliloboot's default install to the MBR. You'll have to restore your boot sector using your w2k install disk. I think there's a thread on this subject elswhere. If you still want to use DSL, before you repair the bootsector run liloconfig and install lilo to a floppy disk instead of the MBR so you can avoid this problem in the future.

Been there and done that many times when I first started playing with DSL, but as long as I could get into DSL from either the hard drive or the CD, typingmkliloboot and telling it where my DSL install is has never failed to restore my access to both my windows and DSL partition. It may be overkjill, but its easy. Using a windoze boot floppy and typing fdisk /mbr from xterm will also restore you windows boot. Unfortunately it will wipe out lilo, but not your linux partitions. One should always back up any important data on the HD before trying to install a new OS. |
