I open this thread to improve, if it is possible, the aesthetics and the relations of the community dsl.We will begin for a world contest of dsl wallpapers, every member of the community dsl can send photos of his place of origin or graphical designs.....
1) We need a site to lodge the jpg and to visualize them .... I not to do it, suggestions are admitted..
2) The topics can be :
Nature
Urban landscape
Rural landscape
Action humanizes
Graphical design
others
3) the jpgs can be of 100-300 kb (suggestions are admitted) and free of copyrights a maximun of 10 pictures per member.With every photo a text was sent indicating the title, geographical origin, date and user's name dsl, two lines of text explanatory are optional
4) the contest can be solved by a poll in dsl forum at the end of the period of contest (2 months).
5) The community dsl can download the photos that are considered suitable for use as wallpapers..

good idea, but i dont think many ppl will use them wallpapers or will even be part of this contest... i know cos i tried sumthing like this a few times earlier :P

ciberbrewery sounds like a nice project, ill keep that in mind. im too busy with school (sort of exams-week) and a website, and also maybe we are getting started with a new site for DSL, so the ciberbrewery is going into the list of projects, on top of it
oh and on making your own sites, never start with a wysiwyg (what u see is what u get) editor, i started with it, in the end i just stepped off it cos learning HTML at once is way better, it made me way harder to learn HTML cos of the wysiwyg editor

So unlucky I don't own a decent digicam.. Can't take pics with acceptable quality even at 1024x768.If I learn how to use a raytracer I might be able to put up something nice though.

Easy to do only it is necessary to use one commit and a key... Benjamin Franklin did it and survived

So, I'm now a beginner in POV-ray Here's my first attempt, northern star above the sea:

It's 337kb and so a bit big, but it looks cool
If you wish to get it down, you can convert it to 256 colors in Mtpaint, to bring the size to 120kb. Use Wu quantitize and Floyd-Steinberg (quick) for best results with this image.

thanks to Curagai up the png to cmdsl and when i made the html with OOo its gone to 155 kb, i do not know how,.... now i undestand the terms raytracer ,digitally...
i was thinking at the begining that the procedure was analogic with a normal atmospheric ray in a dark night...beers to curaga...
