how can i use/install the new client?thanks patrik Posted by dare2dreamer on Nov. 15 2005,08:11
You should be able to download the extension from the testing links above and load it with mydsl-load. After that, you'll have a menu item to load the nx client, or you can run /usr/NX/bin/nxclient--dare2dreamer Posted by Superunke on Nov. 15 2005,10:47
hi dare2dreamer,i'm sorry, i'm newbie in dsl. the installation failed whit this warning: locale not supported by C libary, locale unchanged thanks patrik Posted by dare2dreamer on Nov. 16 2005,07:51
How are you loading the extension, and what version of DSL are you running?I've had it working with no issues in dslv1.5 Posted by Franklin on Nov. 25 2005,04:56
Hi dare2dreamer, I did several tests of nxclient-1.5.0.dsl with : . dsl-1.5 . on a Compaq NV400 (laptop) Three methods: 1. Putting nxclient-1.5.0.dsl directly under (root) : at startup, dsl regconizes it, tries to install, but fails 2. In putting nxclient-1.5.0.dsl under /optional then trying to install it under mydsl menu : same result, 4. By doing "mydsl-load /optional/nxclient-1.5.0.dsl" with console: same result, In three cases, the same message returns: tar: short read Cannot allocate color Do you have any idea ? Thank you. At a guess it sounds like the mydsl-load script is having trouble unpacking the extension. You might try downloading a clean copy and trying again, just to rule out the possibility that you got a bad copy. You might also try the 1.4 version I made a while back. I've gotten both to work without issues. I have seen that mydsl occassionally installs the extension, but doesn't update the menus properly. You might want to cd into the /usr/NX/bin directory and see if its actually installed and just not showing up in the menu structure. All off the top of my head, of course. |
