when I do the
Code Sample
syslinux -s f:
it screws up saying ...an app. tried to access the hard drive and this is not supported and gives me the choice of "close" or "Ignore" which ever i press i get the same result nothing happening! but... when I press Ignore i get the error message saying

ERROR 3246: Boot sector read failed


could it be my version of syslinux (2.11)? or My Flash Drive (PNY Attache 512mb)? I dont know

By the way I'm using Windows XP Home to  try to get dsl on it.

I think Windows XP does not really allow direct hardware IO for normal users. Try doing that from and Admin account on your machine.
