I'm wary of asking apparent no-brainers but how is IconTool accessed in DSL-4.2.4?Failing that where is IconTool located in DSL-4.2.4? Posted by Juanito on Feb. 09 2008,12:41
Well, in dsl-4.2.5 there is Apps/Graphics/IconView - is this what you're looking for?

I'm looking for the IconTool referred to in the following extract from < http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Adding_Icons_to_the_Desktop > ----------------------------------------------- Fluxbox menu DSL: Desktop: IconTool JWM Menu: DSL Setup Desktop: IconTool window shows DSL Icon Tool you can choose to have icons: added, hidden, auto-arranged, single click or double click. You may also choose no icons and specific X Y coordinates for Icon placement. To finish configuration, return to "Click" tab and "Ok" Thanks to Roberts for the clean tool ----------------------------------------------- The Apps/Graphics/IconView seems to be just a list of icons with no manipulation facilities. That was used for the older desktop icon application (xtdesk) which was replaced with dfm. The desktop now has built-in features for adding and removing icons, which is much simpler. The current DSL icon tool is an icon viewer only. Posted by jaygeedsl on Feb. 09 2008,18:03
So how do I access the dfm add/remove features? BTW I didn't appreciate how version-specific much of the DSL help data is. Seems little point in using the DSL Book I received at Xmas for help with DSL-4.n.n et seq. Posted by mikshaw on Feb. 09 2008,18:53
To remove an icon, right-click the icon and chose "delete".
Documentation has always been a difficult thing to manage, particularly for projects that have only one or two developers. The docs are written by others out of a desire to help, and are not assigned as duties, so unless there are volunteers who actally enjoy writing docs, they will continue to lag behind DSL development. Thanks for that. I've now got a desktop icon that finishes my netrik project.Regarding documentation. In another life in IT Systems I was professionally involved with, amongst other things, user documentation. In fact I had thought of producing a basic help document detailing my recent netrik experience for the benefit of other newbies. If you like I'll post it on completion for comment. Of course, the wiki is just for that
