how do one go about getting rid of the Xsever on a modern distro lets say for the sake of simplicity "UBUNTU" and installing the XVesa and XFbdev instead the same way damnsmall and feather did I am sorry if this is not the place to ask but I have asked in the proper forums with no luck. Those are part of the kdrive tinyx servers. If you plan on compiling X, those are also part of the tree which you can build. There's existing pre-built binaries somewhere which you may use... but did you ever consider the unofficial "Ubuntu-lite"? See < https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuLite > If you plan on using slightly older hardware with the ease of ubuntu packages, you may as well start with a lighter system anyways. thanks for your answer , I am aware of the ubuntu lite project and I have tried it but it still uses Xorg , I also tried fetherweight and I liked it; it has the K drive but it can not be upgraded , I wonder if I can strip it of everything but the Kdrive and then convert it into Ubuntu I read somewhere that it can be done .well thanks for your answer , you would'nt happen to know where I can find the existing pre-built binaries for it would you ?
