Need help changing cursors

I've got an older laptop, and I'm finding it very easy to lose the cursor on the screen.

Is there any way to change the cursor, or make it bigger?

I found a package in synaptic called big-cursor, but i've got no idea how to configure it.

I've googled it so much I am beginning to think my name is google.

Any help?
