Okay, this looks like a REALLY stupid question, but here's why: I am installing < Gentoo > on my computer, and X doesn't seem to work on it. I am just wondering what DSL uses for X (so that I might diagnose the problem).

Yes, Gentoo and DSL are different, but that is the point. I needed to figure out what DSL uses in X, because X doesn't work w/ default stuff on Gentoo. Not only that, but I am asking you guys because I'm not geting the answers I need at Gentoo either.

Technically, DSL uses the Kdrive servers instead of the standard XFree86 servers.So if Gentoo has a Kdrive or 'tinyx' package on the package management list, install this package. Choose the 'Xvesa' server or the 'Xfbdev' server. Good Luck. Posted by KevB on Nov. 25 2003,15:40
