Hi,

i installed dsl 3.2 on my laptop including the lilo boot loader. Everything works finde, but i can't use mkdir or move or some other hd operation commands, 'cause i always get an "permission denied" message ... but why? I have changed all the read and write settings for user s ect. to on, so i've the permission to read and write ... what could be the problem?

Need more info about your system....
What type of DSL install you have (frugal, embedded, debian style).
What directories you're trying to move/copy and to where.
What user is trying this.
The exact word-for-word error message(s), including the name of the application sending the error if listed.

A note for the future:
Blindly changing permissions on masses of system files is always a bad idea. You're asking for trouble doing this. The default permissions used in DSL are usually suitable for any typical computing by a regular user, and file permissions have no influence on the root user so it's not necessary to change the base system permissions.

frugal install with lilo bootloader ... tried to copy (not move) files from floppy to /usr/lib or something else, 'cause not only copy/move or makedir works ... user is root ... messages are "permission denied", can't copy any files to anywhere (floppy to hd, hd to hd, cd to hd) ... no permissions at all ...

/usr/lib in a frugal install is just a symlink to /KNOPPIX/usr/lib until you run mkwriteable (install a *.dsl extension). /KNOPPIX is a mounted, read-only filesystem, much like a cdrom.

I'm not sure about the issues with copying to and from floppy/hd
