I can't change settings in XMMS plugins or do "physically delete files" unless I open a root shell and use "sudo xmms" or "xmms &". I need to be able to change my "xmms-alarm" plugin pretty frequently.

How can I make XMMS open with all permissions by clicking the icon? I tried changing the xmms.lnk file,  to "sudo xmms" and "xmms &" but it has no effect.

Also, whenever new files are downloaded from gnutella, or if I mkdir anywhere while logged in as dsl, the user/group is always set to "root/root". I can't modify or move anyfiles unless I back up, open a root shell and "sudo emelfm" it's a pain in the ass.

Can anyone help me?

I always have to open a root shell and then emelfm.
Now, about XMMS. I have that in my remaster, and did add the alarm. Look over my "getting_started_guide" link
in my signature to see what all I do have on XMMS. Each time I boot up, I have to
enable each plugin, including the alarm clock. I've never tested the alarm clock, but once it is enabled, then the "configure" button is clicked to open up the times for the alarm to sound, etc.

Lots of options, but as I said, I have not tested it to see if it actually works, or
to solve your problem with it. I have it on my to-do list.

:(

Thanks Rapidweather,

It seems that the error is inconsistent. I've succesfully changed settings without using sudo xmms. Sometimes is works, sometimes it doesn't. I got some narrowing down to do.
