Found an interesting article on Newscientist.com
It seems IBM is also working on a bootable USB OS, based on Knoppix.
They have named it SoulPad, and it might prove useful to DSL by providing tools/setup and ideas, backed by IBM research $ http://www.research.ibm.com/WearableComputing/SoulPad/soulpad.html
One cool thing the do, is "suspend" everything from RAM, back to the USB drive. And it can boot any OS with wmware (looks like they are using Windows in the video...) It is encrypted, and decrypted with an extra usb key.
BTW. I already use my (dsl) SoulDrive ;) with Portable Firefox And a host of other "essensial" tools
