Hello,
I would appreciate if someone would jump start me on this. I love the DSL embedded, but don't need to run the windowmanager and GUI stuff. I would like to use the DSL embedded in text mode order to do command linux unix stuff and avoid installing Cygwin on some windows PC's.

I changed the winodws batch file from "frugal" to "2" to get the different runlevel, but the NIC didn't get configured right (as it does with the frugal option), and qemu crashed pretty quick.

Any idea where I should start to modify things to run better?

Also, does myDSL have a command line interface? I suppose I could throw the stuff I need on the memory stick with the dsl (NMAP, etc)

You don't want to remove 'frugal' just add '2' to the append line. This would be like booting the DSL CD with 'dsl 2'. That should get you to a prompt. The command for loading .dsl files is 'mydsl-load'.
