DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: DSL 64 bit
How about a port to 64 bit. I have a new machine with an amd 64 bit processor. DSL will not boot. I have to run it in virtual pc 2004. You might want to consider a 64 bit version. These processors are becoming more common.
DSL is based of KNOPPIX, to my knowledge KNOPPIX doesnt have a 64bit kernel...
Also DSL was/is designed to work on "older" hardware...a 64bit processor definitely isnt old...dont take me wrong...people have DSL running on some pympin rigs..but the "coolness" factor of the distro is the ability to save those dinosaur "atticware" machines from the junk heap

Why not just use Debian? DSL was not meant for use on the latest and greatest computers.
The AMD Athlon 64 supports 32 bit, so I don't know why DSL wouldn't work.
Besides, the devteam uses pentium 2 class boxes in the 233 - 500mhz range for development. None of us has money for a 64-bix box.
But I have used DSL on a 64 X2 box (that's 64-bit, dual-core, folks), and it worked fine.
