DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: turn my old pc ->

Thanx for the info. Unfortunately my programming skills don't exist yet.

There is something I found that seems like it's along the voicemail lines.  'mgetty' or 'vgetty'.  maybe a .dsl could be made?  I guess more research is necessary.

It would be a perfect project to educate the world as to how useful and versitile DSL (and linux) can be; by easy to understand / everyday products. There is a similar movement with homebrewed PVR's (personal video recorders).  I think it's a rare person who doesn't have voicemail (or an answering machine). I personally pay $8.95 a month to SBC for my voicemail. A DSL voicemail solution would free up that monthly payment for some more DamnSmall donations :)

Asterisk provides Voicemail services with Directory, Call Conferencing, Interactive Voice Response and Call Queuing. It has support for three-way calling, caller ID services, ADSI, SIP and H.323 (as both client and gateway). Check the Features section for a more complete list.

Im sure someone could compile it and create an addon module for DSL

The recommended FXO cards work without a hitch and only cost like 30-40bucks...its quite nice actually

If they cant get it built for DSL, they have a prebuilt, self install iso that allows you to install a linux OS

What is Asterisk@Home
The Asterisk@Home project enables the home user to quickly set up a VOIP Asterisk PBX. A web GUI makes configuration and operation easy. We also provide an xPL (home automation) interface for easy interaction with other devices in the home.
But I think the DSL team can definitely get a MyDSL working.
