DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: routertastic-mundo!!?

hi, i havent much experience with linux so it might sound stupid but could i create a router with an old k6-350 256mb which i found dismantled in my wardrobe earlier today, i reckon i have enough pci and isa network cards in the loft somewhere to fill up all the slots, could i just link it to my crappy ntl modem and configure it as a router somehow?

You can make a firewall/router system out that box with no problems

You can either use DSL and then create your own IPTABLES filters, or

get a firewall/router program called SMOOTHWALL, which makes just a firewall/router box, nothing more, nothing less...

If you want services such as print services, Apache, SMTP, or whatnot then get CLARKCONNECT, or just do a google search for linux routers or whatnot

DSL is classified as a desktop, why mess with "perfection"

I've never set up a router myself, but Googling "linux" and "router" returns lots of options, including many router/firewall distros which run from floppy disk and claim to be easy to set up without much Linux experience. Don't know if you intend to dedicate a box as a router, but a system with minimal RAM and only a floppy drive and no CD-ROM or hard drive wouldn't use much electricity.

i have an old 120mhz system with 32mb and a disk drive and no hard disk somewhere - i will look into it
