Anyone have good speed tweaks for DSL hdinstall ?
such as disable hardware autodetection.

You can add "noatime" to the list of options in /etc/fstab for mounted filesystems, which may improve your hard drive access time. Not only that, but you can use hdparm to change hard disk settings and improve throughput as well.
