DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: Car based PC

I need some opinions on what I should do here, I have several ideas and dont know which way to go with it.

Idea 1

Use an Xbox that has been hacked/modded and just generally bastardized as the hardware platform.  This would allow me to either run an IR remote to control the OS or use a controller that has been modified extensively to fit into the dash (or somewhere handy).  The OS used would most likely be win2k(xbe version) running the XBMC console.

Idea 2

Get my hands on one of those spiffy little 1ghz fully integrated super mini motherboards (I think VIA makes them).  Use DSL running with either a touchscreen (maybe using OPIE as the GUI I'm sure thats going to be a pain) or some type of easy to deal with input device.

Basic requirments for the project:

1.  System needs a totally GUI driven interface
2.  Wireless support 802.11b at least (used for transfering new songs, maps and data)
3.  Must have easy to use contol system (God knows we don't need me typing in commands at 55mph)
4.  The ability to browse the web from either a launch pad or standard browser (with dettachable USB keyboard not to be used by driver while driving)
5.  Audio cababilities
6.  Some type of storage media (probably a normal HD with a shock absorbing system)
7.  CD/DVD drive probably from a laptop (optional)

I would like to get the system small enough to port over to my Motorcycle with the maps and such, minus the multimedia and add VoIP to allow for communications with a cloned unit my buddy is planning to build (once we figure out how which way we want to go)

Any suggestions ?

DSL and the via miniPC's..
