DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: Run LiveCD and eject  cd-rom

do this at the command line  ;-)

$sudo umount -l /cdrom
$sudo eject /dev/cdrom

be careful to not open any new program
to open a new application that's not yet opened put the livecd back on the drive and do

$mount /dev/cdrom

Also, if you have 128MB or more RAM, you can start DSL with boot command:

dsl toram

and you will be able to remove your DSL boot CD from the drive after the system is fully loaded up and booted.

This is a great way of freeing up your CD drive if you need want to play music CDs or if you want to burn data out to a CD-R disk.

in fact, this little tip can only be useful in 2 situations:

-the computer has little ram

-the live-cd is very big, example Knoppix

I, myself, have 768 mb ram and always did toram with DSL and live distros of about 200 mb mini-cd, but I never tried  do this with Knoppix

well, at least until  I have 1 Gb ram :-)
