How about it? Is that feasible? Password on bootup to access files and settings, then all userdata written normally to ramdisk, until shutdown when it is re-encrypted using GnuPG or similar. It just needs somone technically proficient enough to edit the startup and shutdown scripts, and then security is provided for.

That sounds like a really good idea. Especially when you consider that an USB-Stick is so small that it is very easy to loose.

Its definitely feasible. All that you need to do it is available for you to do it. If you want to, go right ahead. ;)
