DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: Progress Meter

Hello all,
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows how to write a progress meter to show how far the coping files to ramdisk have progressed ?
It would have to be a script put into the linuxrc file, which is no trouble for me to modify.
I believe the script would come after the line which says "Copying files to Ramdisk..Please wait"

Maybe something like 67% finished, or, something similar.
Any ideas ?
