DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: using DSL as JUST a DVD Player

Hi all

I have a dell laptop, and I would love to setup a simple little partition in linux which will just boot, slow down the processor via SpeedStep and then run mplayer DVD player

I don't need xwindows installed or anything

can DSL do this easily or will I be struggling?

Absolutely...you could even remaster it to run you mp3 from CD as well....imagine it...no need for a HD for your music!

what about SpeedStep, I hear it is not yet available on DSL?

Thats what remastering could do for you...
Perhaps a speedstep MyDSL might work...but I think it has to be a loadable module
