See it really sucks that you are not able to change the topic title in this ikonboard. You never knows if a problem is solved or not. i know that in the gentoo board the good posters finish there post after solving the prob everytime with a solved in the title.
greets doom4actually, what we need is a few Moderators to manage stickies, locking frequently asked question threads (like all the "omg!!11! my winmodem won't dial", etc)
and i guess i just need to start putting the faq together on the forum itself. one bit at a time.
only reason I don't is that i don't really want it to be an active (repliable to) thread.
-J.P. SaidinUnleashedAnother wish: Block ordinary users to make new threads in the HowTos forum - this forum (ideally) should be repository of how-tos where only moderators can add new threads.naaaaaaaah, only ppl with over 150 posts or something like that

I think that's a bad idea. For one, just because you make X number of posts doesn't mean that they were all useful. In fact, I would be more in favor of someone who has been on the forums for a long time, posted useful information, but has a low number of posts, or a higher content-ratio, if you will.
Secondly, once a system like that is in place, people will start commenting on everything with useless drivel in order to inflate their post count so that they can get moderator privledges. Comments such as "Wow, that's so cool" , "I have no idea how to help you, good luck" or "Hey, that isn't working for me either, if you fix it let me know" isn't particularly useful and if used as a metric for determining moderator status, I'm done with the forums again.Next Page...
