DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: Something that I'm sure has been tried before
First time poster here! Woohoo! Anyway, I came upon this site a few days ago and this little OS fascinates me. Being able to personalize an OS from the ground up is a very interesting concept and I think I'd like to at least give it a shot. My question pertains to USB pen drives. Would it be possible to install DSL on say a 512 or 1 GB pen drive and actually run it? Would the read/write rates be ok with that? Reason I ask is it would be incredible if I could do this and be able to basically plug and play my own little personalized OS on any computer I happen to be around. Like my subject line says I'm sure this has at least been tried before and I was hoping I could get some feedback or opinions on this concept and if it would work or not. Thanks in advance!

yes, but you dont want to do a "normal" install, as this would quite literally eat the drive.
you can do a Frugal Install to a usb pen, compact flash card, etc.
frugal doesn't write to the drives nearly as much therefore sparing the solid-state storage some a lot of wear and tear.
in the menu it's Apps>>Tool>>Install to Pendrive
Welcome to the Revolution.
EDITUS: corrected location of the pendrive install script.
