DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: DSL option to boot from Knoppix iso

I searched the posts by Rapidweather but didn't really find what is was looking for - my problem with the Knoppix 3.4 iso is that I need to load 855wrap before the X-server starts, otherwise I get the Intel 855 lime-green-screen of nothing. The Knoppix 4.0.2 iso manages to start the X-server in low resolution after which I can drop back to the terminal screen, load 855wrap and restart the X-server with "init 5".

I tried the following boot codes from the DSL boot prompt:

dsl 2 dma toram bootfrom=/dev/hda5/path-to-file/KNOPPIX_V3*.iso

But somehow the "2" gets ignored and the boot sequence does not stop at the terminal mode. The knoppix.sh script (the GUI version at least) does not look like it would work like bootlocal.sh and load 855wrap.

Any ideas would be welcome...

Sorry Juanito I just meant that the bootfrom iso option had come up before - not specifcally using dsl to boot a full knoppix iso.
The kernel file and the minirt must match what you want to boot.  I have made an USB pen-drive that can boot DSL , DSL-N and Knoppix 5.1 , but the three all need their own kernel file and minirt.gz
I'm not sure what you're saying here, do you mean:

1. In order to boot a knoppix iso file using the boot code "2" I would have to boot from knoppix in the first place.
or
2. In order to boot a knoppix iso file I would have to boot from knoppix in the first place.

I can boot knoppix iso files from the DSL boot prompt, but I would like them to boot into terminal mode rather than start x.

When I boot from USB I don't boot the Knoppix ISO.  I have prepared the USB with syslinux and put the three kernels and minirts in the root, and the /knoppix directory contains all three knoppix images plus the extra files that Knoppix needs.

You are booting the Knoppix ISO, so my answer is somewhat off topic.

Anyway, when you boot the Knoppix ISO, do you get a second prompt from the ISO where you can write e.g. "knoppix 3" to boot to runlevel 3 (text mode) ?
