Hi, An awesome use for dsl would be to use it as a pocket OS. I tried running the embedded dsl in WM5 but it didn't work. So a port fr it would add many new cappabilities to portable devices. Let me know eveyonw what you think of it.In reference to http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....t=15487 ....

However maybe if enough people pushed for it dsl could make a port for pda's, pocketpcs, and cellphones
Unless someone takes up the project to port DSL to handhelds, I seriously doubt any movement in that direction will be done, mostly because not everyone has one. The main difference is the cpu architechture, most of the handhelds are ARM, while most PC's some variant on the x86 - which DSL is the target of. So all the stuff would have to be recompiled, not to mention the gui applications would probably have be changed/reconfigured to fit the screen size. I wouldn't even know about the boot process and the other hardware used in a handheld (DSL uses the knoppix hardware detection).
have you looked at http://www.pdaxrom.org/? it has a pretty limited set of pda's it will work with now (though they say there will be more). if they actually can get it working across a broad set of platforms, it could do the job.
