DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: DSL Women

Install it on a heart shaped mini CD with attractive artwork.

(EDIT: I suggested to broaden appeal for those women who still are effected by old ideas.  Many of us know of women who _are_ into computers, science, et cetera.  I, for example, have a friend who lingers on the border.  She _wants_ to learn more technology but struggles with doubts about her ability to do so.  I know she would think a heart-shaped CD would appeal to her emotionally and help her take the plunge.  Sorry about the overly-brief post that pushed people's buttons.

As for the heart-shaped CD's themselves.  I've gotten feedback from the company.  Yes, they're expensive.  Furthermore, I asked if CDR or CDR/W media could be cut down.  No, they're a different technology that would be destroyed if  one attempted to cut them down.)

What a stupid, sexist idea!  Clue:  we're here already.  We just don't put "BTW, I'm a woman" in our posts.  Make a good distro and people will use it regardless of gender.
Putting the sexism and the thread topic aside, some of those cutouts are simply bad ideas.  Any CD as unbalanced as the heart, texas, or house is going to spell trouble if you actually want to use it.  It will most likely add much unneccessary wear to both your drive and the CD (think about what an unbalanced load does in a clothes washer's spin cycle).
Actually, I'd say anything other than a full circle will do this to some extent.

I like the idea but I've heard that those heart shaped CD's won't work propetly...
the idea is not bad, thought I don't share the sexist point of view. The fact is that those cds would be expensive. Those kind of things are very interesting if you're giving them away to promote something (i.e. a service, a shop)  but if you just put this option into the several ones you have to get dsl..that just would not work. just my 2 cents
