DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: Still waiting for smaller

fxb, i run DSL on a old laptop that has no harddrive, cdrom is if'y and floppy sucks. So i need there fantastic work that i can load straight into ram and run from there. My biggest problem is just getting it into ram, like i said the cdrom is if'y and some times it takes several tries but once i get it there it runs like a champ. Like everyone i prefer certain apps and i am limited by my ram. I'm not asking them to stop what there doing and jump right on this, as i can adjust my needs to make what's currently available work for me. If it were possiable for me to install a os it would be mepis or ubuntu. But i am just making a idea and a suggestion so no big deal.

Kerry, i didnt know that you dont have a hard drive.

Another small "dsl stylish" distro is Puppy linux, it has great "remaster" guide  http://www.puppyos.com/puppy-unleashed.htm
Sounds simple to me.

morphix
has a method of remastering.
by starting with the base system
they call it the "base-iso" and it bairly fits on a buisness card CD..but it has no GUI.
they also have  "Morphing-Morphix" which helps make your own live CD.

I have not fully investigated it so I'm not sure if it would be possible to mod "base-iso" to include X+fluxbox or not.
and maybe include apps on a USB.

IMHO: The big advantage of DSL is the form factor, boot of buisness CD that fits in my wallet, with, some other data+apps, on usb stick.

1. easy to carry
2. cheap to replicate
3. easy root on 99% of computers.

I hear you. I am not telling anyone to go away. All suggestions are taken to heart.
I do have such an animal. Maybe the infrastructure that I have created with the MyDSL system is mature enough.
Personally I felt the docs were not. It does give me great satisfaction to see those of you who "really do get it". :D

And finally who knows, maybe there will a DSL-M.
M for mini, micro, mine, minime, modular, modern, ....

yeah this would be truly awesome :D

please do so ^^

very nice concept :) and if there is still names to find to the 2 new distribs, the small one and te bigger one, i'd suggest lilliput dsl as a nickname to dsl-m, gargantua dsl as a nickname to dsl-n, though i hope it will not grow so big.

Tried puppy, but it dosen't have the drivers i need for the pcmcia ethernet card so i get stuck with no internet. I much prefer DSL over anything else at this point as i learn more about it i will proably try a remaster from my desktop, but right now i'm just way to green(noob) at it.
