DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: new forum area request
Is there enough interest in starting an area of discussion about using DSL with WRAP boards for setting up community wireless networks? I'm not a geek, but want to learn about how DSL might fit in with building community wireless networks. Seems like we, in our community, could purchase something that acts as an antenna/router for the community, and then utilize cheap home antennas to get the ball rolling. Am I on the right track?
There's actually more to it than that, but free wifi can be a good thing as long as other 'big brother' ISPs don't decide to sick their lawyers on you...
Well, I suppose a new area on this forum is up to the dev (and the pseudo-dev) team.
Anyway, if you learn how to setup a wireless network with DSL (which isn't hard at all, check the DSL wiki). Adding a more powerful antenna to your router is a simple matter of engineering and careful observance of any applicable regulations (such as wireless standards, local regs concerning transmissions, etc.).
