I like programs like Beaver. They are good when you are editing shell scripts and want to catch simple errors like missing punctuation.
VI does the same things, and supports copy, paste, syntax highlighting.and punctuation checking. VI is easier to use than ever to use with GVIM (vim full) available from the myDSL repository...
Also, VI can be found in every Linux version available to date.
